Creating headlines from academic research

Wednesday 23 November

Queens Hotel, Leeds, 9.30am-4pm

What you'll learn

Publicising research is very different to other areas of PR – it brings its own particular challenges, which can seem daunting and confusing to those new to the field.

This workshop will help you to be more confident in how to spot the newsworthiness of research, understand complex academic papers and handle publication protocols and embargoes. It will ensure you ask the right questions of the researcher and know how to navigate the politics of working alongside funders and collaborators, so you produce accurate and effective press releases that achieve headlines without compromising the research they’re based upon.

Whether you’re an experienced press officer who’s new to higher education, in your first job, having handle research stories as part of a busy workload or just ready for some career development, this training will give you the opportunity to learn from experts in research PR.

To find out more about what the workshop will cover, see full details on our training pages.
