European Association of Urology
Gaining worldwide coverage for a European conference
The European Association of Urology is a leading professional organisation dedicated to promoting urological science, education, and clinical practice in Europe and beyond. It plays a crucial role in advancing urological research, facilitating collaboration, and setting high standards for patient care in the field.
“We very much enjoy working with the Campus PR team on the press activities at our annual Congress. We can really rely on their expertise, they just know the drill. They are very flexible and, not unimportantly, also great fun to work with!”
Jarka Bloemberg, Global Manager Sales & Marketing, European Association of Urology
The brief
The EAU’s flagship event is its annual Congress, which brings over 9000 delegates together to discuss the latest developments in the field. Campus PR provided the EAU with media support for the 2021 and 2022 Congresses, run virtually due to Covid restrictions. Since 2023, the Congress has been held in person once again, and Campus PR has continued to support the event, gaining media coverage for the research presented.
Our approach
We work with the EAU to identify the most newsworthy research being presented at the conference from several hundred highly-rated abstracts. We interview the researchers and an expert from EAU in that topic, to draw up around 8 press releases which are agreed by all relevant organisations. We send out the releases in advance under embargo to a carefully targeted list of UK and international journalists, following a schedule we design to maximise the chances of coverage. Providing support from the UK, and on site when required, we can respond quickly to media enquiries, providing abstracts and setting up interviews with the researchers.
The results
We achieved over 2400 media mentions of research presented at the 2023 Congress in Milan, which equates to three billion impressions (opportunities to view).
The research was covered in more than 25 tier one media, in the UK and USA predominantly, but also in Canada, France and India as well as high quality specialist medical outlets.
In 2024, we gained coverage in 20 tier one media, again in the UK national print and broadcast, but also in the USA, Italy, Denmark, Ecuador and Australia. It was also picked up by high quality specialist scientific and medical outlets, regional media in the UK and USA and syndicated to general news sites.
